fusion …..a live site specific installation from designer Gavin Chambers and artist Kathy Williams.

The collaboration fused together old and new, light and dark, materiality of paint with sharp edges, folly with permanence, past and present, art to design.

Kathy utilised the volume of space central to the modern staircase installed in the stone tower, creating a sequence of shocking pink paint hangings that curled down from above, leading from the ground floor, up through shadow spotted interplay with light shapes from the sunshine up into a warm lilac UV paint instal of the mezzanine floor.

Gavin showcased new light designs in acrylic, his influence of brutalist and modern architecture a peerfect contraxt to the materiality of paint and unpredictability of moving light and shadow.
