PADA comes to the Arch Window Gallery, Ryde.
After the initial installation of painted marks in this three dimensional space*, people in the community of Ryde are asked to contribute their own ideas. This gives the public ownership of the painting in their High Street as well as have a say on what they see and talk about what is important to them. People are invited to photograph and document any of the infinate compositions they see, and upload onto social media.
This documentation will be what is left after the artists work and community events are over.
(* Kathy creates painted marks and behaviours on transparent materials and installs in public and private spaces. She pursues her vision of expanding the depth of space painted marks can exist in, and instead of fixing to a 2 dimensional surface, she assembles marks in physical space. This work is in succession to her life-long concern of expanding the possibilities of what paint(ing) is, what it can be, and the will to democratise the status of art as belonging to the public. It seems we learn and understand by doing.
